Description
I am looking for a Mate. This is a Full-Time position. This job starts ASAP. The position is in Seattle, WA, USA. Candidate must have one of the given visa(s): US Passport/GreenCard. The salary for this opportunity depends on experience. This is a United States of America flagged charter and private vessel that is 111' to 144' (34 to 44 meters) in length.
Here are the qualifications needed for this job opening: USCG 200GRT Mate or greater, Valid Medical Certificate, Additional STCW Modules beneficial.
This is the likely itinerary for this vessel: U.S. West Coast, Pacific NW, Alaska, Mexico, and Canada. Mate – 120’ U.S.-Flagged Motor Yacht We are seeking a motivated and qualified Mate for a newly built, U.S.-flagged 120-foot / 294 GT vessel currently located in the Pacific Northwest. The vessel’s expected itinerary includes the U.S. West Coast, Mexico, and Canada, ranging from Baja California and the Sea of Cortez through Alaska. The successful candidate will have proven, relevant experience on similarly sized vessels and hold the appropriate license to stand and lead an independent navigational watch. The ability to manage and maintain the deck department with limited supervision is essential. The vessel operates with a full-time crew of three, with the potential to bring on additional crew (chef and/or deck/stew) for potential future charters. This is a low-key program in terms of service formality. The owners are self-sufficient and easygoing, but they maintain high interior and exterior standards. Repositioning movements will be supported by a full complement of competent additional watchkeepers and a relief captain as needed. Weather dictates all major movements—we prioritize safety and favorable conditions for longer trips, which the owners typically do not participate in. The captain brings experience from both the yachting and commercial maritime sectors and takes pride in running a disciplined but balanced operation, with clear expectations communicated and followed through. The captain is hands-on, well-versed in all aspects of vessel operations, and is willing to train and mentor the mate to support career development. This would be a good program to build sea time and miles in order to advance credentials. Expected Duties (including, but not limited to): Lines and fenders Docking and undocking procedures Vessel washdowns and detailing Teak care and maintenance Knowledge and proper use of cleaning and detailing products Crane/davit operations for tender deployment and retrieval Tender driving Basic mechanical aptitude (a plus; training available) Willingness to assist other departments as needed Vessel is strictly drug, tobacco (including smokeless), vaping free work place
