Privacy Policy

Meridian Go, LLC (“Meridian,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use MeridianGo.com and Meridian websites, applications, accounts, communications, and services (collectively, the “Services”). It also explains choices and rights that may be available to you.

By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. This Policy should be read with our Terms and Conditions. It does not apply to information processed independently by employers, recruiters, yacht management companies, messaging providers, payment providers, or other third parties under their own privacy practices.

1. Who We Are

Meridian Go, LLC is the controller of personal information collected for its own purposes through the Services. In some limited circumstances, Meridian may process information for another organization under that organization’s instructions. Questions may be sent to Privacy@MeridianGo.com.

  • Employer, vessel, recruiter, and business information, such as company or vessel details, role, authority, job postings, hiring preferences, candidate searches, saved candidates, recruitment activity, and hiring outcomes.
  • Reference and verification information, including reference requests, responses, relationship to a Candidate, work history confirmations, credentials, notes, and supporting materials.
  • Communications and content, including messages, applications, interview information, support requests, feedback, reports, and communications sent through or connected with the Services.
  • Transaction information, such as services selected, invoices, billing contact, payment status, hire or engagement information, and records needed to administer fees. Full payment-card details are generally processed by payment providers rather than stored by Meridian.
  • Device, usage, and technical information, such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, identifiers, referring pages, pages viewed, clicks, searches, approximate location, timestamps, cookies, logs, and security events.
  • Marketing and preference information, such as email, SMS, WhatsApp or similar messaging preferences, notification settings, survey responses, and event or promotional engagement.
  • Information from other sources, such as another user who invites you or requests a reference, employers or recruiters, public sources, service providers, business partners, and integrated third-party services.

3. How We Collect Information

  • Directly from you when you register, create or update a profile, post a job, apply, search, communicate, request or provide a reference, make a purchase, report a hire, or contact us.
  • Automatically when you use the Services, including through cookies, pixels, logs, analytics, and similar technologies.
  • From other users and organizations, including when someone identifies you as a Candidate, employer, reference, client, colleague, or contact.
  • From vendors, integrations, public sources, and business partners that help us operate, verify, secure, analyze, market, or improve the Services.

4. How We Use Information

We may use personal information to:

  • Create and administer accounts, profiles, memberships, trials, purchases, invoices, and transactions.
  • Provide job posting, candidate search, application, matching, ranking, messaging, interview, reference, verification, directory, notification, and related features.
  • Display Crew profiles and applications to authorized Employers and Recruiters and facilitate direct contact and introductions.
  • Send account, application, job, reference, billing, security, support, product, and service communications by email, telephone, SMS, WhatsApp or similar channels, where permitted.
  • Personalize and improve the Services, understand usage, develop features, conduct analytics, measure performance, and troubleshoot errors.
  • Verify users and information, protect safety and security, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms, investigate disputes, and collect amounts due.
  • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries, rights requests, complaints, and feedback.
  • Send marketing communications and measure campaigns, subject to consent or opt-out rights where required.
  • Comply with law, legal process, tax, accounting, regulatory, and record-keeping obligations.
  • Create aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify you and use it for lawful business purposes.

5. Matching and Automated Tools

Meridian may use rules, algorithms, and automated tools to organize, match, rank, recommend, highlight, or summarize Candidates, profiles, applications, or jobs. These tools support discovery and administration. Employers and Recruiters, not Meridian, make hiring decisions. Meridian does not intend these tools to make a solely automated decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects for a Candidate.

6. Legal Bases for Processing

For individuals in the EEA, United Kingdom, and other places where a legal basis is required, Meridian relies on one or more of the following bases: performance of a contract, including creating accounts and providing requested Services; consent, including for optional cookies or marketing where required; compliance with legal obligations; and Meridian’s or another party’s legitimate interests, including operating, securing, improving, supporting, and appropriately marketing the Services, preventing fraud, administering fees, and establishing or defending legal claims. Before relying on legitimate interests, Meridian considers the purpose, necessity, and potential effect on individual rights.

You may withdraw consent at any time through available settings or by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. If Meridian processes special-category information, it will do so only when an additional lawful condition applies, such as explicit consent, employment-law necessity, protection of vital interests, information made manifestly public by the individual, or establishment or defense of legal claims.

7. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose personal information as follows:

  • To Employers, Recruiters, management companies, and authorized hiring representatives. Crew profile information, applications, uploaded materials, availability, reference or verification information, and communications may be visible or provided as needed for recruitment and hiring.
  • To Crew and other users. Job, employer, recruiter, sender, reference-request, directory, message, or account information may be shared as needed to provide the feature and facilitate communication.
  • To service providers and contractors that provide hosting, data storage, security, analytics, communications, customer support, payment processing, document handling, verification, marketing, and other operational services.
  • To integrated or selected third-party services when you request, authorize, or use an integration, link, sharing feature, or communication channel.
  • To professional advisers, auditors, insurers, financial institutions, and collection providers as reasonably necessary for business, compliance, claims, or payment administration.
  • For legal and safety reasons when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, users, Meridian, or the public; investigate misconduct; enforce agreements; or respond to legal process.
  • In a business transaction involving a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate protections.
  • With your direction or consent, or as otherwise disclosed when the information is collected.

Once information is received by an Employer, Recruiter, Candidate, reference provider, or other user, that recipient may process it independently. Meridian cannot control every recipient’s later use, but our Terms restrict misuse of Candidate information.

8. Public and Profile Information

Some areas or features may make selected information visible to other users or, if clearly indicated, to the public. This can include a name, photograph, position, profile summary, professional experience, availability, itinerary, directory information, job posting, or content you choose to share. Review account settings and avoid posting sensitive information that is not needed. Search engines or third parties may retain copies of information that was public.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Meridian and its providers may use necessary, preference, analytics, performance, advertising, and similar cookies or technologies. These technologies help operate the Services, remember settings, understand use, secure accounts, improve performance, and measure communications or campaigns. Where required, optional technologies are used only after consent. You can manage available choices through our cookie controls and browser settings. Blocking some technologies may affect functionality.

10.Communications Choices

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the message and may opt out of eligible text messages by following the instructions provided. You may change certain notifications in your account or contact us. We may still send non-marketing messages necessary for accounts, applications, references, transactions, security, support, legal notices, and operation of the Services.

11.Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to maintain an account, provide the Services, preserve recruitment and transaction records, comply with legal, tax, accounting, maritime, and regulatory obligations, resolve disputes, collect fees, prevent fraud or repeat abuse, enforce agreements, and protect users. Retention periods vary based on the type and sensitivity of information, the relationship, legal requirements, and operational needs.

Crew may delete their account at any time by logging in and selecting the account-deletion option. Other users may close an account through available account settings or contact Privacy@MeridianGo.com. Deletion removes or deactivates the profile and associated information from active use, subject to lawful exceptions.

After account deletion, some information may remain temporarily in backups or be retained in transaction records, legal files, security records, consent records, de-identified data, or copies previously provided to Employers, Recruiters, or other users. Where permitted, Meridian may retain limited information needed to comply with law, complete an existing transaction, resolve disputes, collect fees, document the request, prevent fraud or repeat abuse, or prevent a terminated user from regaining access. Meridian will not retain personal information longer than reasonably necessary for these purposes.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No internet transmission, system, or storage method is completely secure, and Meridian cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for using a strong, unique password, protecting credentials, maintaining device security, and promptly reporting suspected unauthorized access.

13. International Data Transfers

Meridian operates a global platform. Personal information may be processed in the United States and other countries where Meridian, users, or service providers operate. Those countries may not provide the same level of legal protection as your home country. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, Meridian relies on an adequacy decision, approved standard contractual clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, another legally recognized safeguard, or a permitted derogation. You may contact us to request information about the safeguard relevant to your information.

14. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; opt out of certain marketing, targeted advertising, sale, or sharing; or appeal a denied request. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you may object at any time to direct marketing and may object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may also have rights concerning decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

To submit a request, email Privacy@MeridianGo.com and describe the request and account involved. We may verify your identity and authority before acting. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted, but we may require proof of authorization and identity. Meridian will respond within the period required by applicable law. Meridian will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Deleting an account through the logged-in account-deletion option is the fastest way for Crew to request deletion. If additional information is retained under a lawful exception, you may contact Privacy@MeridianGo.com for more information or to exercise another applicable privacy right.

If you are in the EEA or United Kingdom, you may lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority where you live or work or where you believe a violation occurred. We encourage you to contact Meridian first so we can try to resolve the issue.

15. California and Other U.S. State Notices

Residents of California and certain other U.S. states may have additional rights regarding categories, sources, purposes, and recipients of personal information, and the right to opt out of certain sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. Meridian does not sell Crew CVs or profile information as a standalone data product. If Meridian engages in activity legally defined as a “sale” or “sharing,” Meridian will provide any notice and opt-out method required by applicable law.

California residents may also request information about certain disclosures for third-party direct marketing where applicable. Requests may be sent to Privacy@MeridianGo.com. Browser-based opt-out preference signals will be honored where legally required and technically supported.

16. Children and Minors

The Services are not directed to children under 16, and Meridian does not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 16 without legally sufficient authorization. Account holders generally must be at least 18 or the age of legal majority. If you believe a child has provided information improperly, contact Privacy@MeridianGo.com. We will investigate and take appropriate action.

17. Third-Party Links and Services

The Services may contain links to, or enable communication through, third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Meridian is not responsible for the privacy, security, content, or practices of third parties.

18. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version and revise the effective date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice as required by law. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date is subject to the updated Policy.
