Captain — 100' M/Y (Private) Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL Vessel: 100 ft M/Y Flag: U.S. Flag Program: Private Salary: $10,000 to $12,000/month Start Date: ASAP Overview A private 100' U.S.-flagged motor yacht is seeking an experienced Captain to join the program ASAP. Current Captain leaves Sept 15. The yacht is based primarily in Fort Lauderdale and spends most of the year in South Florida, with a few short trips to the Bahamas and Key West. The owner typically takes one extended summer trip of approximately three months. The owner did the Northeast this year and is considering shipping the yacht to the Mediterranean next summer, although this is still TBD. The yacht operates with a three-person crew: Captain/Engineer Mate Stewardess/Cook A chef is brought on when the owner is aboard. Responsibilities Overall command and safe operation of the vessel Navigation and passage planning Hands-on maintenance and engineering Manage and coordinate the crew Maintain the yacht to a high standard Coordinate with shipyards, contractors and service providers Prepare the vessel for owner trips and cruising Budget conscious Requirements USCG 200-Ton license Strong yacht command experience Comfortable performing hands-on engineering and mechanical work Strong maintenance and troubleshooting skills Professional, organized and hands-on Excellent references Longevity in previous roles Ability to work well with a small crew and private owner Program This is a private, non-charter program. The yacht is currently in the shipyard having the bottom painted. The Captain is not required to live aboard when the yacht is not being used.
